The Chamber is working on the first official Chamber of Commerce Costa Rican Map that will feature Herradura, Jaco and Hermosa,highlighting the Central Pacific zone. This map will be recognized by CANATUR: The National Chamber of Tourism of Costa Rica which was founded in 1974 as a nonprofit organization with the primary purpose of integrating the private tourism initiative. CANATUR is the Costa Rican entity designated to bring together the most senior of the chambers and associations in the country. CANATUR's members represent the national tourism industry here in Costa Rica.

Chamber member Vista Las Palmas in Jaco hosted more than 40 fire fighters from various fire departments in Costa Rica for a simulation fire drill.  They practiced emergency and rescue techniques. The General Manager of the Costa Rica firefighters; Engineer Hector Chaves Leon said it was the first time this type of simulation was performed outside of San Jose.   The Central Pacific Chamber of Commerce is pleased to help coordinate with the Emergency Commission on how to prepare the zone in emergency situations!  (pictured in the photo is: Lidia Gonzalez and Gabriela Arias from the Chamber, Tte. CONGRATULATIONS TO OCEAN ENERGY CR S.A. THEY ARE NEW MEMBERS OF THE CENTRAL PACIFIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. Ocean Energy is the Central American representatives for Carnegie Wave Energy Development. Its purpose is to generate electricity through the use of the power of the waves. It was established in January, 2011 and is located in La Curva, Playa Hermosa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

The Central Pacific Chamber of Commerce will be holding its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, February 2nd at Morgan's Cove at 2:00PM.  This meeting is open to the public and will also serve as the first Membership Drive of 2011.
